Inspired by the "Dia de los Muertos" Idea that the souls of our relatives that have passed make a once a year journey to visit the loved ones that are still alive. You will also see that there are foot prints, faces and Azteca inspired skulls to make up the background of the "altar". The skulls symbolize the death gods. The faces at the top represent passed ancestors, the foot prints show the journey thats made...The candles light their way and the flowers(marigolds, sometimes called the flor muerto or cempasuchitl). Finished in dec 08, sold in dec 08.

The sheer size of this batik made it hard to get a decent picture. We did our best to try to keep the background dark.
